Dr Naame vom Molière isch äng mit em Theater verbunde, wäge däm säit men em vilmol au La Maison de Molière (Im Molière si Huus).

August het s Ensemble, wo us 27 Schauspiiler bestande het, si ersti öffentligi Vorstellig gee: d Dragöödie Phèdre vom Jean Racine und e Komöödie vom zwäitrangige Schriftsteller Jean de La Chapelle (1651-1723).

S Publikum isch gspalte gsi in d Aahänger vo dr französische Klassik und deene vo dr Romantik, wo s Stück vom Hugo äins vo de erste gsi isch drvoo. Schlussändlig häi d Aahänger vom nöiartige "romantische" Theater gwunne und Abwiichige vo de klassische Theaterregle si mee und mee verbräitet worde.

D Comédie-Française het hüte e Repertuar vo öbbe 3000 Theaterstück. Si het drei Theaterhüüser z Baris: dr Richelieu-Saal, s Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier und s Studio-Théâtre.

Bravo. Read the play (whichever play you go to) beforehand and don’t worry how good your French is. Beautiful theater with a supremely talented and creative troupe and excellent direction. Must do.

The building is just worth checking out as well. Get last minute tickets cheap although the real tickets on the 1st and 2nd balconies are not bad either. Excellent value for money

It is worth coming to see a play here even if you don't speak fluent French. The building, the level of the actors and the ambience are a beauty to behold.
