Le château de Doune, construit au confluent de la Teith et de la Forth, date du XIVe siècle, il a été construit pour Robert Stewart, duc d'Albany, frère de Robert III d’Écosse et régent du royaume. Il a servi de résidence royale jusqu'au règne de Marie Stuart. Il est géré aujourd'hui par Historic Scotland. Il a servi de cadre au tournage du film "Monty Python : Sacré Graal" en 1974.
